I need a starting point for a shooting head for Salmon fishing. regards, Bob M There are quite a few of my articles floating around on the web. You will find some posts of mine on the subject if you do a search on roff; http://groups.google.de/groups?as_ep...nnor&lr=&hl=de If you do a general search for "Connor Shooting heads" this should also turn up some stuff, although there are plenty of other good articles from other people on the web as well. Most of the people I know use heads for their salmon fishing, and the majority make them up themselves. There are several methods, the most popular one at present is using relatively short heads, for the Scandinavian underhand casting style. Some like splicing up sink tips, others use "multi-tip" systems with looüs etc. You can find some excellent info here as well; http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbetter/shootingheads/ http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbetter/juro.htm http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbette...animation.html http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbette...eads/aftm.html http://globalflyfisher.com/fishbette...ads/rates.html What you make up depends on your rod, your casting style, the proposed target fish, and the circumtances in which you will be targetting it. River types, depths, etc etc. The info above should suffice to get you going. TL MC |
