We've recently launched a new design for one of our stores and would
appreciate any feedback concerning the design and functionality. The website name is BuyTackle.com. (http://www.buytackle.com) Thanks. |

(http://www.buytackle.com) Thanks. OK, you asked. Compliments: Nice layout and a diverse product selection. Now for the critique: Menus -- Instead of loading up the first page with 1,000 links, consider using drill-down menus. That will make it easier for customers to find what they want without having to read a long list of links. Your "Brands" page is much better. Visitors can quickly scan the vertical menu of brands, read a few lines of text when they find something interesting and click to go directly to a product page. Frames -- Don't use them. Many search engine spiders, including the most important three, will not fully parse your site if it's in frames. The same applies to dynamic pages but for a different reason. Dynamic pages usually take longer to display so the spider moves on without parsing much of the content. The result is people searching for the products may not find your website. You're using Cold Fusion to build dynamic pages from your data base. CF makes it easy to create and modify pages but it can be death to search engines. Instead, generate static pages. There are ways to do that using CF, but it's easier if you've upgraded to Dreamweaver. -- Regards, Robert L Bass ============================= Bass Home Electronics 941-925-8650 4883 Fallcrest Circle Sarasota · Florida · 34233 http://www.bassburglaralarms.com ============================= |
