Default OT Good news for me....

.....bad news for fish. The colonoscopy came out totaly negative. No
tumors, polyps, or excessive scarring from the diverticulitis.
So, it looks like I can break my ties with the medical community for
awhile and turn my attention fully to my friends, Salvelenus
Fontinalis, Salmo Trutta, Salmo Salar Sebago, and whatever the hell
they call rainbows nowadays.

Thanks to all of you who wished me well....it truly is appreciated.

George, who is now posting from Verizon.net.....DSL rocks!
New email addy to follow in a while.

Most excellent, George. Here's a tip of the hat and
a Budweiser toast to you and your colon. ;-)

Yeah, I used to think so too. When I first signed up with
SBC DSL and got 380+ Kbps I thought I was rockin'. Then
the sorority across the fence installed a Linksys WiFi
that I can glom onto and VOILA ! 3,000+ Kpbs wireless,
like double a T1, and now my poor DSL looks like a dog.

Do yourself a favor at this transition point and take a web account to
protect your new addy. Perhaps Verizon offer disposable accounts that
point to your real account? Gmail is the balls. If you want an invite I
got 50 of them.

Great news on the test. I was in your area today well a bit north in
Greenfield. Was going to fish the Millers on my way back, but it was a
tea colored torrent.

I didn't say I actually used their WiFi, just that
it exists, I can glom onto it, and it makes my DSL
look like a dog in comparison.

On the other hand, it's in my house, it's right here
where I live. It's like if you get something you didn't
order in the mail, you don't have to return it and you
don't have to pay for it.

Disclaimer: I don't know jack**** about Illinois WiFi law.

According to the article, the authorities don't know jack**** about the
law, either. I think they're making it up as they go along, which could
be all the more scary. Our office is within WiFi distance of the police
department. They didn't completely secure *that* WiFi connection for
several months, or so I've heard. . .

It seems to me that these WiFi vendors would better serve their
customers by implementing some basic security out of the box, like using
the MAC address of the device as part of the encryption key until the
consumers who buy this stuff secure it better themselves.

Great news, George. Celebrate by going fishing more often. And don't
forget the DRE/PSA test for prostate cancer.
