I've been having some fun with the rainbows on the Yakima recently.
I've posted three pictures of a small one I caught today. The pictures
were taken with the rod in my left hand and the fish thrashing about at
my feet. Yes, he's just about 12 inches, but his colors are classic,
and he just didn't want to quit.

I was parked illegally along I-90 at milepost 103, and had to be
careful that my backcast didn't hit the car. The March Browns were
hatching at size 12 or even 10, and the fish were eager. The
interesting part was all the good looking water that had bugs on the
surface, but no sign of fish. I think the population in this stretch
is a bit low, so the fish are only in the best holes. We found them
wherever there was enough of a backwater to hold a raft of the tiny
midges that were everywhere. The fish ignored the midges, but hit the
mayflies hard.

One spot yielded 4 fish caught, and several lost. I quit when the
state patrol told me to leave. I thought I was legal with the car 30
feet from the shoulder, but he disagreed and I didn't argue.

Check out the pictures on ABPF

Those are nice action shots Chas. Do you use any kind of special strap
or harness to keep your camera from swinging around while you fish?

I'm not sure what Chas does, but I saw a neat idea another fisherman was using.
He had a small piece of Velcro stuck on the bottom of the camera and another
sewn to his vest. Since I don't have a waterproof camera, this probably wouldn't
work well for me, but it did a nice job for him.

Charlie...

Thanks Charlie.

I got a neoprene case for the camera that snaps over the whole thing.
It's not waterproof, but it is spalsh proof. To hold it down while I'm
fishing, I tuck the camera inside my waders, above the belt. It's not
too hard to pull it out and strip off the neoprene case to take
pictures, but holding the fish at bay with the left hand does make it
more complex. The case is made by OP/TECH USA.

Thanks Chas, I got one of those cases too. I do a lot of wet wading so
I need to find a solution that doesn't involve waders. I had a harness
when I used to take my 35mm SLR but can't remember where I got it (or
where it is nowg).
