Default September's flies

September, have to pay attention to the water temperatures. Good amount
of rain will cool the streams.

Very small BWO's.

Iso's in pools below riffles.

This is why I started keeping a log, so when coming into a change
season, I have some patterns and locations to key in on to start with.

Sorry for the out of focus photo and had to block out a page with some
sensitive information on it.

So, you keep a journal, looks like no set format.

I haven't kept a journal and I'm still undecided if I'd be disciplined
enough to keep it going. I know there are valuable information one can
obtain.

An online journal seems to be most useful for searching and queries,
but who carries a laptop to the stream or have time once they get home?

Still undecided.

Iso nymphs - something with peacock herl and it long and thin. Swing it
to shore like a swimming iso nymph. Prince nymphs, Zug Bugs, and
Coachman wet flies work as well as more specific patterns. Just a
peacock herl tail with a peacock herl body will suffice aty times.

Iso dry - I like a big parachute with a brown or dark olive body. They
are dark olive right when they hatch, but quickly turn dark brown as
they harden up.

BWOs and PTs are never out of season.

Tricos are still around in the AM, but the fish are really tough in
heavy fished waters like the PA limestoners. However, in a lot of our
freestoners few people fish tricos and the fishing is good.

Terrestrials. Go big, the bugs are big at the end of the summer.

September used to be one of my favorite times to fish. Not many people
out before the fall stocking, fish are in natural patterns, and the
leaves aren't in the water yet. However, the last few years low, warm
water in September has been a problem.

klg:

I guess one could see it as work, but I see it as a hobby and hobbies
are to be enjoyed.

I have no set format, just compile information, one page will be about
fishing Maine, the next on how to rig when the Salmon River is flowing
at 2,200 cfs.

You appear to have an inquiring mind, so putting things you see, hear,
and read down for later does come in handy at times.

You never know till you at least try it. Keep it simple and basic as
you wish.

Good luck.

A weak moment yes, I have heard that people have them, but not me.

Just so you know, there is a button there.. where you can remove it.

As always, not going to hurt my feelings to get a thumbs _down_ either
way. As long as the tally machine on my heading here keeps an accurate
count.

I see -Mr. Clever- has been busy this morning.

Santo, take a closer look, any graphologist would see straight off that
is not my hand writing.

If it was, You'd be assured that I would have the book in focus for all
to see. It is nice hand writing.
