Bullhead catfish make some of the best bait for Flatheads, bar none.

I have to agree with Rodney. Fishing does not necessarily mean "Sport
Fishing". Jug and Trotline fishing is about CATCHING FISH!

There is nothing wrong with just catching "fresh" fish to eat, jugging
and trotlining, is fun, and anything that is fun can be a sport.
remember we are not actually "catching" sport fish we are catching
comerical fish, they are no limits on them, at least not in my state
(which means there is an over aboundace of them)

Those guys that are all catch and release "sport fishing" are missing
the best part, "eating them"

I know no one who C&R when trot linning or jugging, unless they are too
small,

The ones too small are bait. Cut bait of fish.

or they think they are too big, so it is not done for just the
sport of it, it's done for harvesting fish, just like people who hunt,
harvest deer, they may claim they do it for the sport, I hate those who
do it and don't eat them, as you can't C&R a "dead" deer

I had fried catfish tonight for supper, I will eat cat fish sandwiches
tomorrow , and the next three days for lunch, just from the left overs
of one side fillet (I caught that bad boy on a rod though :-) It would
not have taste different caught on a jug, and hand lining that jug with
a cat that size is really a sport

i agree jug n trotlines are way of old our grandpaws and dads did this
to harvest fish for eating sure ya may t think its not a sport but look
at it this way by jug n trotline fishing iam eating fish and your buying
fish from the grocery store at an outrageous price i grew up fishing and
hunting for food we wasnt poor but wasnt rich either and with 5 kids in
the family dad needed all the help that mother nature could give if it
was leagle size it came home i have ate many blue gil bass small ad
largemouh just about every fresh water fish that we could catch and yes
a good ole hog or white sucker is very good to make fish patties out of
and i guess the people that think jug n trotline fishing isnt a sport
have never tried it alot of fun and some unforgetable experinces
sometimes we would catch a mud turtle and you got it he came to the
house too great eating so in closing dont knock it till ya try it

tv makes it an automatic 3 pounder come on ppl wake up n smell the
roses fishing shows are all about ADVERTISMENT iam like the guys

Here in Arkansas, as able-bodied as Texas and Oklahoma, catfish are considered "sportfish", at atomic as far as accepting banned enforced. Except for bullhead catfish, for which I anticipate there are no limits. It's boring communicable on everywhere that catfish do accept antic value.
