What about those otters then?

I have only been fishing for a few years now but it has almost become an
obsession and i try to fish every day even if it is just for an hour or
two. During my short fishing history i have been bombarded with stories
from doom and gloom merchants regarding creatures that will endager
the future of angling.

First that beautful creature the Pike was held responsible for empty
waters and many anglers will kill a Pike on site without remorse like the
two teenage anglers who slowly beat a Pike to death while laughing then
posted the video on utube.

Cormorant was the next anti angling buzword that enraged some anglers
enough to make them reach for their shotgun yet our waters are rammed full
of fish and the sport has never been better i'm told.

Crayfish were supposed to bring an end to our sport yet the effect has
been the opposite and i suspect that a 10llb Chub could become a common
visitor to the banks after gourging itself on immature crays.

Now its the Otters turn to be hated and hunted by anglers. I was delighted
one day whilst fishing the upper Mersey to be treated to the sight of an
Otter fishing not 10 meters from my rod tip. My swim was rammed with Chub
and roach not empty and barren like the anti Otter brigade tell us. If
there is an Otter in your locality then there are also loads of fish, this
is a simple mother natures circle of life.

There is however one creature that i despise and never want to see on our
banks again. This is the selfish, thoughtless, dangerous, dirty fisherman
that leaves his litter and line on the bank for other anglers and wildlife
to suffer. If you see this vile creature then try and educate him and
change his ways or failing that send some of that Otter hatred his way.
