Interesting,
Never heard of it. We used a small piece of wire called a cat's
whisker to find the best spot on the crystal for our crystal
radio when I was a kid. I lived in Cottonwood Arizona at the
time and could get the Amarillo Texas station which was in Mexico
and had a very powerful transmitter. They were always
advertising something for sale. "For a dollar three ninety eight
you can get a real genuine imitation mother of pearl hair brush
with real genuine imitation hog bristles.

Apparently you have no ethical qualms about spamming a newsgroup under the
guise of a genuine request for information.

You can be damned sure I will *never* patronize your site. Thanks for the
heads up.

Try this:

http://business.virgin.net/british.c...tswhisker.html

The previous reference gave a dressing with only a wing of white marabou.

It
should have a tail, as well. Apparently, the originator used white cat's
whiskers to stiffen the marabou in an attempt to prevent it wrappng round
and getting caught up around the hook bend.

Tight Lines,
Tony Deacon

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the link. Interestingly enough . . . probably only to me . . .
I used a similar pattern to fish for shad on the Delaware River in the state
of New York back in the late 1980s when I lived in that part of the United
States. Really effective pattern for them. Would also catch smallmouth
bass with the pattern on that river.

Heh . . .heh . . .and I thought I made up the pattern. Of course, I didn't
tell many folks about my "secret" pattern. (grin) Heck, only a gazillion
other folks were already using it.

Hi Tony,

Of course the "cat" doesn't have to be a monster, I've tied mini cats on
#10 LS hooks using white marabou tail, lime green chenille body , white
marabou wing ,and chain bead eyes or goldhead . These are quite small
and fished slow and deep can prove to be deadly.

Someone with a fertile imagination such as yours is not welcome on this
NG.

David is known personally to several contributors to this NG and he's
not the sort of person you describe - so get lost.

No ****? If I misjudged him, then mea culpa; but from what I saw, he asked
a question for which he already knew the answer for the sole purpose of
promoting a commercial website. He solicited the effort of some good folks
when he didn't need the information, and under false pretenses. Okay, maybe
he's a good guy; but I'm less than impressed with his conduct in this case.

Look at the header Bill you will find this was sent to r.o.f.f.t and rb608
is flaming him from there he doesn't know David has nothing to do with the
website in question.
