looking for a boat

I have a 25 hp evinrude and I need a boat. I was thinking a
fiberglass something 14 or 15 feet long.

Maybe the J series will work for you. It really depends on what you want to use
it for and the water conditions.

Make sure you also consider the shaft length. Different boats have different
transom heights.

That is for sure a problem with a fiberglass boat in that size range with
what would be a small outboard for the weight. A boat made of aluminum would
be lighter in this size, with better go ability with this level of power.

I guess that would depnd on what a person wants.

I have a 16' Waco with livewell, (full at the time) three batterries, gear,
12 gallon fuel tank. I was running it with a Force 50. Yesterday it
stopped firing on one cylinder. I had to run it back about 12 miles up
river that way. I still got about 20MPH out of it. It took forever to get
on plane, but it did and ran about 20mph per my gps. I guess that a real
speed of about 22 since the river current averages about 2mph. My top speed
with it running right is just about 32MPH. A 25 would be lighter than my 50
and would not have the drag of pushing the dead piston. I imagine on the
same boat it would push it faster than my half dead 50.

A 14' glass boat that doesn't have a lot of accoutrements should run about
the same. I guess it really depends on what he wants. I do agree that he
could get more fishing room for the same motor and speed by looking at
aluminum due to weight.
