It has a 2 stroke 150hp Yamaha outboard and a 15 hp 4 stroke Suzuki which is used for trolling. Currently, there is a valve which is turned to supply either engine with gas. I would like to replace the valve with 2 one-way valves ()to each engine) and a Y adaptor (to the fuel tank) to avoide having to use the valve. Does anyone know of such a thing? Thanks. Do you mean a check valve - like this? http://www.restockit.com/Fuel-Line-C...(SRRCKV5).html Yes, except that that the fuel line is, I believe, 3/8" not 5/16. Seems quite expensive. Similar (I think) brass valves are available from McMaster Carr for a lot less. I would use two of them, a manifold, and a package of adaptors, (barb one end, NPT the other). Like this? http://tinyurl.com/6z7dp5 I think so - I just don't know where that goes. IAC, I am thinking of two one-way valves (going to each motor) attached to a manifold which also goes to the fuel tank. The whole thing is available from McMaster Carr for a reasonable price. Thing is, I can't be the first guy to add a trolling motor attached to the main fuel tank. I thought there must be a pre-made assembly - maybe not... I have seen dozens on bass and walleye boats but they all use the valve you are trying to avoid. Got a link to the one from McMaster Carr? I have some friends that might want to lose their valves, too. I just wonder how much restriction there is from these check valves. The post above from nails it, but the link to McMaster Carr is http://www.mcmaster.com. If there is any restriction from the valves I will add a fuel pump, but I doubt it will be necessary. The fuel line is 3/8" already and even the big engine sips gas. IAC, I'm reviewing the stuff now and plan to do this - I can always revert to the switched valve if I have to. If you like, email me in a week or two and I'll tell you how I made out. -- Larry rapp at lmr dot com |

That way, I'll be sure to catch it when I return from a 3-week fishing vacation in Michigan (I leave Saturday night!!) |
