My in-laws just bought a home in Laconia, NH. I know very little about
the area except it is in the Lakes Region. Can anyone recommend some good spots (Rivers, Lakes, Ponds, etc.) for trout fishing? Thanks, - Dave |

There is no good fishing in New England. The nearest fishing spots are in North Carolina. Wolfgang can supply you with GPS coordinates. ;-) Seriously, there are several good books to pick up: http://tinyurl.com/j2hg6 http://tinyurl.com/l25wx Happy reading! -- TL, Tim ------------------------- http://css.sbcma.com/timj |

I recall fishing the Swift R along the Kangamangus Highway http://www.netrailhead.com/nh/np/kancamagus.html I fished the Bearcamp R which runs along side of RT 25 and crosses RT 25 just before the intersection with Rt 16. There is another, smaller Swift River that was good for native brookies. It flows along RT 113. My brother and I used to fish the smaller Swift back in the late 60's and early 70's. There was a small cabin just off RT 113, where a woman in her 80's used to live during the summer months. She came up from Boston every year. She had no electric power and she got her fresh water from the river using a pump driven by a little gasoline engine. She was very generous, letting us park in her driveway and then use the trail to the river that switchbacked down the side of a steep cliff. She would invite us to her cabin for a snack after we were done fishing. I remember once catching a small brookie that had a hook jaw. You can see the Bearcamp and the Swift on this map http://tinyurl.com/ju9bn The Saco is another river that we fished. It's near Conway, NH. http://www.des.state.nh.us/rivers/saco1.htm rt |

![]() If you ever want to cross the border to Maine I can point you to some good spots. Maine and NH both do plenty of stocking... althoughI prefer wild trout.. brookies. All along the Saco River is pretty good. (starts in Fryeburg ME) near NH -- flies from $5.60 per DOZEN! Rods/Reels and Gear www.fly-fishing-flies.com |
